This page is the exclusive result of work by undergraduate students at College of Charleston. As part of the Oceanography class of Spring 2003, students researched the sinking of the oil tanker Prestige off the NW coast of Spain. The prestige presently remains in the bottom of the ocean, still seeping oil onto the Gulf of Biscay and Spanish shores.

The purpose of this exercise was to make students accumulate oceanographic data related to the oil spill, interpret and synthesize it, and finally present it as informational webpages directed to a general non-specialized audience. At the beginning of the Spring semester of 2003, a few months after the Prestige sinking, few informative webpages existed describing the incident in English language.

These webpages represent the collaborative work of six different teams of students on different topics related to this unfortunate incident and their effort to present these results to a general public. Oceanography class students are responsible for the content and design of the webpages, though the final assembly of the webpages was possible only with the help of Daniel James ('03).
