SEA Semester while at College of Charleston


 

SEA Semester

If interested in participating in the SEA Semester program offered by the Sea Education Association while enrolled at College of Charleston, please contact Dr. Gorka Sancho or Dr. Leslie Sautter for more information.

 

CofC Credits for SEA Semester

Although SEA offers 17 hours of credit for the SEA Semester program, the credits translate to 14 hours of CofC credit. All credits are recorded as pass/fail on your CofC transcript, and grades are not used in the calculation of your GPA. SEA will provide their transcript of your course grades.

 

If you go on SEA Semester (12 weeks), you'll receive the following credits at CofC:

BIOL 342 – 4 credits – (Oceanography)

PHYS 1EE – 3 credits -- (100 level Physics elective that is not equivalent to PHYS 101 or PHYS 111)

ENGL 2GG – 3 credits – (200 level English elective credit that satisfies Gen. Ed. requirements)

BIOL 3MM or GEOL 3MM -- 4 credits -- (300 level elective credit toward the major or minor in either Biology or Geology - this is credit for the research project you conduct at sea)

TOTAL CofC credits for SEA Semester: 14 credits hours

BIOL 342 – 4 credits – (Oceanography)

PHYS 1EE – 3 credits -- (100 level Physics elective that is not equivalent to PHYS 101 or PHYS 111)

ENGL 2GG – 3 credits – (200 level English elective credit that satisfies Gen. Ed. requirements)

TOTAL CofC credits for SEA Summer Session: 10 credits (10 credit hours)
